There is a lot of things unpredictable in Oval Racing, but the one thing you can be fairly sure of is that an out of season meeting will be cold, and indeed it was. Anywhere else in the world you’d probably also be nervously watching the forecasts for rain, but this is Northern Ireland and you’re as likely to get a wet night in the middle of the summer as you are in the middle of the winter. Fortunately it was dry, which left firstly the cold to content with and then quite a heavy fog. The bangers were having a RWD meeting which brought out some different tin from the usual collection of mondeos, but sadly the numbers weren’t great and the action was few and far between compared to what we have become accustomed to. Dave Haugh won the title race and the allcomers before Noel Anderson won the DD. The ProStocks had a much greater field of cars and I think I counted 31 cars on track for heat 1, there was action aplenty throughout the meeting with Stefan McClelland taking a heat and final after Mark Turkington had taken the opener. In the Lightning Rods Jordan Rochford took the Tullyroan Challenge title after the race declared early. Wayne Woolsey returned to winning ways in the 2 Litres with a Heat and final win after Shane Murray had won the opening heat. Off the track Thomas Dilly had the first superstox to be seen at Tullyroan on display and there was a few ninja karts in the pits. Hopefully we’ll see plenty more cars in both classes in 2013.
